Job Title: Recreational Therapist

Location: Waimea, HI

Schedule / Job Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently plan, organize, and implement appropriate activities tailored to patients'/residents' abilities and limitations under the supervisor's general guidance.
• Collaborate with the supervisor to assess and reassess residents' activity interests, needs, and concerns through observation, conversations, and written records.
• Support residents’ reintegration into the community by accompanying them on excursions, such as shopping malls, theaters, restaurants, picnics, bus/van rides, and other leisure activities.
• Provide one-on-one engagement with patients/residents as needed.
• Coordinate with hospital staff to ensure the availability and functionality of supplies, equipment, and materials for planned activities. Avoid schedule conflicts with other hospital departments or disciplines. Maintain and update the activity calendar.

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in a recreational care setting.
• Experience with MDS is essential.
• Active BLS certification is required.
• CNA certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Strong understanding of recreational treatment plans and leisure-time activities.
• Knowledge of human growth and development.
• Ability to independently carry out recreational activities and therapeutic treatment plans.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with patients/residents, families, and staff.
• Familiarity with hospital policies, procedures, and worksite rules.
