Key Responsibilities
- Administer safe and accurate radiation therapy treatments in accordance with prescribed plans.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment, ensuring proper setup and patient safety.
- Operate complex radiation-emitting treatment units with manual dexterity and precision.
- Monitor patients throughout treatment sessions, recognizing and reporting any unusual reactions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed treatment and simulation records, including quality assurance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, including consent verification and documentation standards.
- Participate in planning clinics, internal reviews, and ongoing competency assessments to stay current with techniques and best practices.
- Assist in clinical instruction, training new staff or students, and participating in departmental education initiatives.
- Perform specific advanced techniques including clinical on-call starts, immobilization procedures, and specialized radiation delivery methods, with ongoing rotation through CT simulation.
- Adhere to all safety, quality, and regulatory standards set by the department and licensing bodies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited radiation therapy program or equivalent.
- Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure by the Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program in the state of New Mexico within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience performing treatment planning and immobilization techniques for various treatment sites.
- Proficiency with CT simulation, quality assurance, and advanced radiation techniques such as IMRT and Active Breathing Coordinator.
- Ability to produce custom immobilization devices and perform 4DCT scans.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to patient safety and quality care.
