Registered Nurse - Oncology

Location: Springfield, IL

Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, days shift

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to oncology patients in a Level I trauma, Magnet hospital setting.
• Administer chemotherapy treatments, including continuous infusions, IV pushes, and oral chemotherapy.
• Manage cytotoxic spills, monitor patient responses, and communicate abnormal lab values.
• Access ports and central lines, perform blood draws, and care for IV and line access devices.
• Work within scope, including floating as needed and accommodating schedule requests.
• Support a census of approximately 24 beds, ensuring quality patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

• Active IL nursing license or in application process.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in oncology.
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required.
• Ability to administer chemo and IV therapies, including port and PICC line management.
• Strong understanding of chemotherapy protocols and infusion techniques.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience with Hematology/Oncology patient care.
• Knowledge of Cerner charting system.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, trauma-level hospital environment.
• Flexibility to work every other weekend.
