Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to a medical-surgical patient population in a 29-bed unit.
- Monitor and assess patients with a variety of diagnoses, including GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, osteomyelitis, elderly falls, DVT, and pulmonary embolisms.
- Titrate Heparin drips and manage other titratable and set rate drips as required.
- Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals including charge RNs, crisis RNs, nurse aides, and lab/pharmacy staff to ensure quality patient care.
- Conduct and document assessments, administer medications, and coordinate patient care plans effectively.
- Maintain all required certifications, including BLS and active IL RN licensure.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or verification that application process has been initiated.
- BLS certification.
- Experience with titration of Heparin drips.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced medical-surgical environment.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
- Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring systems (e.g., Phillips).
- Ability to handle a wide range of diagnoses and patient needs.
- Experience with IV starts and inpatient blood draws.
