Job Title

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with a range of disabilities, including autism, learning disabilities, and developmental delays.
• Create a safe, engaging, and student-centered learning environment aligned with the social justice model, encouraging academic growth and personal development.
• Collaborate with colleagues, school leaders, and families to enhance instructional strategies and support student success.
• Track student progress, maintain IEP records, and participate in data and curriculum meetings.
• Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet diverse learner needs, including assisting with mobility or physical needs as required.
• Participate in professional development and school community activities to support continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s degree preferred).
• Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education.
• Experience teaching Middle and High School students, particularly in History, Math, and Science.
• Proven experience working with students with disabilities such as autism, learning disabilities, or developmental delays.

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Strong lesson planning skills with clear objectives and assessment strategies.
• Familiarity with Common Core State Standards and educational technology.
• Knowledge of special education laws, techniques, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, IEPs, and progress monitoring effectively.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students with special needs.
