Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cardiopulmonary bypass equipment, including pumps, Cell Saver, auto transfuser, and intra-aortic balloon pump during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
• Assist physicians with setup and operation of life support systems such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and artificial hearts.
• Manage anticoagulation therapy, including heparin and protamine administration, and provide guidance on cardiac drug use during procedures.
• Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and ready for use in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
• Support surgical teams by setting up and inserting intra-aortic balloon pumps across various clinical settings.
• Provide patient care knowledge related to anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and surgical techniques to enhance procedural success.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited perfusionist training program.
• BLS certification through AHA.
• Texas state licensure as a Perfusionist.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience (preferred).

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Certification from the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (preferred).
• Experience with setting up and operating ECMO and artificial heart systems.
• Strong understanding of cardiac pharmacology and anticoagulation management.
