Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide nursing care for residents in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility setting, adhering to physician’s orders and facility policies.
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, including initial resident evaluations and ongoing observations, ensuring accurate documentation and communication with the healthcare team.
- Administer age-appropriate medications and therapeutics; utilize scientific nursing principles to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate residents and their families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care, fostering understanding and compliance.
- Serve as a charge nurse in the absence of the Director of Nursing, leading and supervising nursing staff during shifts.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure high standards of resident care.
Required Qualifications
- Active registered nurse license in Alaska.
- Must provide two fingerprint cards upon acceptance.
- Current flu vaccination.
- Ability to make independent clinical decisions and react calmly in emergency situations.
- Familiarity with long-term care policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience working in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems.
