Key Responsibilities
- Assist in surgical procedures within a busy Level I trauma center, supporting a variety of specialties including trauma, transplant, ortho, neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and robotics.
- Prepare operating rooms and sterile equipment for scheduled surgeries, ensure proper patient positioning, and assist surgeons as needed.
- Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to safety protocols during all surgical activities.
- Support surgical team members with instrument passing, tissue handling, and documentation for procedures such as neuro, ENT, orthopedic, trauma, and robotic surgeries.
- Be flexible to float within scope to meet facility needs and support a dynamic surgical environment.
- Participate in on-call rotations, including weekend, holiday, and emergency response shifts, as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of perioperative surgical technologist experience in a hospital setting.
- Current NBSTSA certification (MUSC does not accept NCCT) and BLS certification.
- Radiation badge must be provided by staffing agency.
- Ability to work 3x12-hour day shifts, with occasional on-call shifts (up to 2 per month), including weekends and holidays.
- Active South Carolina RN license or proof of application, with priority given to candidates holding a valid license.
- Willingness to support a flexible schedule, including potential float within scope.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with neuro (spines/crani), ENT (flaps), and robotic surgical cases (DaVinci Xi).
- Familiarity with complex cases such as transplants, trauma, burns, GU/GYN procedures, and trauma level 1 environment.
- Previous experience in a high-volume academic or trauma hospital.
