Key Responsibilities

• Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including COPD, diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease, GI disorders, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and communicate effectively within an inter-professional team
• Manage IV therapy, heparin and insulin drips, wound vacs, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and feeding pumps
• Utilize electronic health records (Epic), Pyxis medication dispensing, IV pumps, telemetry monitoring, and other unit equipment
• Support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
• Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6 with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• Active Indiana RN license or valid compact RN license
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience at a large hospital (600+ beds)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing telemetry monitoring and complex drip management (heparin, insulin)
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing systems and Hospira IV pumps
• Prior experience floating within a large acute care environment
