Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | 8-hour shifts rotating between 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, and 11:00 AM–7:30 PM | 40 hours per week | Voluntary weekend coverage and call available
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and continuously update individualized plans of care based on ongoing patient assessment across the holding area, operative suite, and post-operative setting
- Implement perioperative nursing techniques in accordance with AORN Standards and Recommended Practices, including aseptic technique, surgical technique, electrical, chemical, and laser safety, and patient positioning
- Recognize and respond appropriately to physiological changes during operative procedures to ensure patient safety
- Ensure all supplies and equipment for surgical patient care are readily available, functional, and that a sterile field is established and maintained throughout each procedure
- Provide preoperative patient and family education related to surgical nursing functions and the physical aspects of the operating room environment
- Accurately document individualized care, patient interactions, specimen handling, and changes to the plan of care
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program required
- Minimum of 2 years of prior Operating Room experience required
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Pennsylvania
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a highly professional manner
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and familiarity with AORN standards
- Experience caring for patients across the pediatric through geriatric age population in a surgical setting
