Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | 36 Hours per Week | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit primarily serving adult patients recovering from traumatic injuries requiring surgical intervention
- Monitor and manage hemodynamically stable patients with diagnoses including gunshot wounds, penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls
- Utilize telemetry monitoring equipment for applicable patients within the unit
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, physical therapy, and social services
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 as needed
- Float to other qualified units or campuses as requested based on census needs
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current AHA ACLS certification required
- Current AHA BLS/BCLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Telemetry (TELE) competency required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/progressive care experience required for first-time travelers; candidates with 1+ year of recent relevant unit experience will be considered
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
- Must pass a pre-assignment medication test
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for surgical trauma patients in a progressive care or step-down setting
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring in a high-acuity environment
