Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holiday Rotation Required

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care for medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical cases, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
  • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on nights, ensuring safe and thorough patient care across an 18–22 bed unit
  • Conduct minimum three daily touchpoints with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to oversee and collaborate on essential cares including Foley care, CHG bathing, oral care, and plan of care updates
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitoring equipment, supported by virtual central telemetry monitoring
  • Manage patients on high-flow oxygen and stable home-regimen BiPAP as needed
  • Float as needed to the ICU for general acute overflow patients or to a campus approximately 25 miles away to meet staffing needs, with at least 2 hours advance notice for off-site floating

Required Qualifications

  • Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free workplace policy
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and holiday rotation
  • Solid color scrubs (no prints) per dress code policy

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical RN experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • PALS certification preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly in collaborating with PCT staff
