Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) Medical-Surgical setting with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio across a 10-bed unit
- Manage and care for patients with complex diagnoses including respiratory failure, post-surgical recovery, wound care, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac conditions
- Perform and oversee PEG tube care and feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline line usage and maintenance, and tracheostomy patient care
- Titrate drips including Heparin; administer and monitor IV antibiotics and other set-rate infusions
- Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for patients on ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen; troubleshoot respiratory equipment as needed
- Float to ICU or Acute Rehabilitation units as needed based on staffing requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
- Current BLS certification
- Experience with PEG tube care and feedings
- Proficiency with CVC, PICC, and Midline line care and usage
- Experience caring for tracheostomy patients
- Ability to titrate drips including Heparin
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification (preferred but not required)
- Experience in an ICU or step-down setting with ability to float to ICU as needed
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and housewide tele pack systems
