Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Cardiac Stepdown unit for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, including those presenting with chest pain, arrhythmias, pacemaker management, or defibrillator needs
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and administer cardiac drip medications including Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Heparin
• Collaborate with a heart failure navigator and interdisciplinary team using SBAR communication framework
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC and manage medication administration via Pyxis
• Float to other telemetry units within the facility as needed
• Meet weekend requirements of 4 weekend days per 6-week scheduling period

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
• Current ACLS and BLS/BCLS certifications
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with cardiac drips and demonstrated comfort managing vasoactive and cardiac infusions
• Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR communication in an acute care setting
• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are accepted)
• Familiarity with heart failure patient populations and care coordination
