Operating Room Technician – OR Tech – First Assist

Contract | Days | 10-Hour Shifts | 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM | On-Call Required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct surgical assistance to surgeons during procedures, including positioning and prepping patients prior to surgery
• Maintain clear surgical field visibility using instruments such as retractors and sponges
• Control bleeding and close surgical sites using sutures or staples, and apply proper wound dressings
• Perform vein harvesting as required during cardiovascular surgical procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons and the broader surgical team to ensure appropriate post-operative patient care
• Cover the surgical technologist role as needed throughout the week in addition to first assist duties

Required Qualifications

• Current BLS certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• CFSA through CAAHEP, CST through ABHES, or NBSTSA certification required
• Minimum of 3 years of cardiovascular (CV) surgical experience — non-negotiable
• Vein harvesting experience is required
• Ability to participate in weekday, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage as scheduled

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Broad surgical technologist experience across multiple service lines
• Strong familiarity with cardiovascular surgical protocols and instrumentation
