Contract | Nights | 4 x 12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | Onsite | Contracts of 16 weeks or longer accepted, with a hard end date of February 27, 2027
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intermediate-level nursing care to a sub-specialized neurological and medical intermediate patient population, including patients with CVA, intracranial bleeds, traumatic brain injury, craniotomy, aneurysm repair, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, and post-TPA care
- Monitor and interpret telemetry/dysrhythmias and respond appropriately, including participation with Rapid Response and Code teams; must be able to titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, including Levophed (LEVO)
- Manage complex IV therapy including central lines, PICC lines, blood product administration, heparin protocols, PCA, thrombolytic agents, IV insulin protocols, and insulin drip titration
- Perform and manage respiratory interventions including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and care of ventilated patients with ABG interpretation
- Provide neurological and post-surgical care including lumbar drain management, pre/post neurosurgery care, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI); manage feeding tubes, surgical drains, and wound care/wound vac
- Float as needed to other intermediate areas and critical care (ICU/Stepdown) units per unit needs; expected to work a minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry experience required
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required</strong>; proficiency with Pyxis and SBAR also expected
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Experience with the full scope of required clinical skills as listed (cardiac monitoring, TR Band, neurological care, respiratory management, IV therapy, and medication protocols)
- This unit will not accept first-time travelers; prior travel nursing experience required
- Local candidates are welcome; candidates within 50 miles of the facility should be aware that a local rate applies
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience accessing and managing ports and performing phlebotomy
- Experience with triage, intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, and conscious sedation
- Charge nurse experience
- Preferred certifications: CCRN, TNCC, CPI
