Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a neurosurgery unit specializing in pre- and post-operative cranial and spinal surgery patients
- Serve as a secondary care provider for general neurology and stroke patients
- Manage and monitor intermittently drained lumbar and surgical drains
- Administer and monitor Heparin drips; unit does not manage drips requiring titration (excluding Heparin), EVDs, arterial lines, fresh TPA administration, or trached/total laryngectomy patients
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Float within service line scope as needed to meet facility staffing needs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (MO or compact; IL license must be in hand at time of submittal)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience
- ACLS certification required by compliance document deadline
- BCLS certification required
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in neurosurgery, neurology, or stroke care settings
- Familiarity with pre- and post-operative cranial and spinal surgery patient populations
- Experience with surgical drain management
