Medical Laboratory Technician

Contract | Evening Shift (Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–10:30 PM) with weekend and holiday rotation | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens and perform routine and specialized laboratory tests in a clinical laboratory setting
• Perform quality control procedures, troubleshoot quality control errors, and carry out preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments
• Recognize and evaluate computer data problems and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Recognize normal and abnormal values and communicate technical information to medical and non-medical personnel
• Assist with training laboratory personnel in routine procedures and participate in continuing education
• Model Standards of Behavior in daily interactions; be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP BOC or equivalent, or relevant specialty lab certification
• Experience in Chemistry is required
• Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers considered
• Must live at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience in Hematology is highly preferred
• Familiarity with clinical laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting
• Experience in a high-volume or acute care laboratory environment
