Special Education Teacher

Primary Purpose: Creates a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment that promotes both academic and social-emotional growth.

Position Details:

  • Location: Ludlow, MA
  • Pay Rate: Starting at 46.50/hr (Contract)
  • Salary Range: $52,700-93,400 (Direct Hire)
  • Hours: May vary based on location
  • Schedule: May vary based on location

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Special Education required or beyond
  • Valid MA Dept of Elementary & Secondary Education certification to encompass PK-2 or PK-8 Moderate or Severe Disabilities. 
  • Ability to perform essential functions, including differentiated instruction, data analysis, and fostering an inclusive classroom.
  • Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa to work in the United States.
  • Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a substantially separate setting.
  • Experience with students with autism, developmental disabilities, or emotional/behavioral needs, including those requiring toileting and feeding assistance.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and educational software.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the Common Core Standards.
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and use it to inform instruction.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and ability to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, including those with varying learning needs.
  • Familiarity with current education theories and best practices in special education.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students in grades PK-3 with diverse learning needs.
  • Create a positive, structured classroom environment promoting academic, social, and emotional growth.
  • Collaborate with team members and related service providers to support student development and progress.
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Incorporate appropriate accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities.
  • Engage families and caregivers to support student success and share progress updates.

Work Environment:

  • May involve working with students in various settings (classroom, therapy rooms, or outdoor spaces).
  • Frequent interaction with parents, staff, and administrators.
