Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to cardiac ICU patients, including stepdown and post-surgical patients with complex diagnoses such as heart failure, ablations, TAVRs, Watchman devices, and COVID-19 overflow.
• Titrate multiple continuous drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, vasopressors, sedatives, and insulin, adhering to protocols and physician orders.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac and ventilator equipment such as Swan Ganz catheters, external pacemakers, ventilators, and Philips monitors; respond promptly to patient needs.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient care and safety.
• Assist with emergency procedures and assessments, demonstrating strong cardiac assessment skills and critical thinking.
• Maintain compliance with all protocols, accurate documentation, and effective communication within a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent CVICU or cardiac ICU nursing experience.
• BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Proven ability to interpret EKG strips and work with specialized cardiovascular equipment such as Swan Ganz, pacemakers, and ventilators.
• Experience titrating multiple drips and working with complex cardiac patient populations.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a high-stress, fast-paced setting.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CCRN or PCCN certification.
• Experience with VADs, transplants, or total artificial hearts is a plus.
• Familiarity with emergency cardiac procedures and equipment.
• Ability to float to ICU as needed and manage multiple patient complexities.
