Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex histologic procedures including processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and immunohistochemistry.
• Conduct quality control on slides and identify issues affecting diagnosis and results.
• Record observations, document instrument maintenance, and ensure compliance with laboratory policies and procedures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with laboratory equipment and slides.
• Support laboratory operations in a teaching hospital environment.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of full-time histology experience.
• Proficiency in embedding and microtomy techniques.
• Certification as HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) by the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
• BLS certification.
• Ability to work days, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend requirements.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in histotechnology, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience in a teaching hospital or trauma level facility.
• Knowledge of Epic charting system.

Note:
Candidates must be able to obtain South Carolina licensure in histotechnology. Local candidates within a 60-mile radius are prioritized. All RTO requests must be included at submission; approval is based on department needs. During hurricane season (June–November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams.
