Key Responsibilities:
- Float between departments and local locations within 20 miles as required.
- Assess triage patients over 20 weeks' gestation using obstetric acuity tools.
- Conduct labor assessments and evaluations, including fetal monitoring and evaluation for signs of labor, preeclampsia, membrane rupture, fetal movement, vaginal bleeding, and other critical conditions.
- Stabilize patients experiencing emergency medical conditions and coordinate transfer or delivery as needed.
- Provide intrapartum care, including fetal assessment, medication administration (e.g., Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antibiotics), and preparation for delivery (scheduled or emergency cesarean).
- Administer newborn medications, assist with immediate stabilization, and prepare for neonatal care procedures.
- Conduct postpartum and neonatal assessments, including hearing screens, medication administration, and care for critically ill or opiate withdrawal newborns.
- Support stabilization and transfer of critically ill newborns.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of current RN experience in a labor and delivery setting.
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
- BLS certification (must be through AHA, American Red Cross, or similar).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Ability to pass BCA testing during the first week of assignment.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- EPIC electronic medical record system experience (training can be provided).
- Experience with emergency obstetric and neonatal procedures.
