Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized nursing care in the Operating Room setting, supporting various surgical specialties including gynecology, plastics, trauma, orthopedics, urology, general surgery, endoscopic procedures, pediatric surgeries, ENT, bariatrics, and robotics.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative patient care, ensuring safety protocols and sterile procedures are maintained.
  • Administer blood products, monitor cardiac activity, and manage sedation and/anesthesia as needed during surgical procedures.
  • Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment and instrumentation, adhering to infection control and safety standards.
  • Support emergency response protocols, including code management and fire safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure smooth workflow across multiple departments and units.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license with recent operating room experience (minimum 1-2 years).
  • Current ABLS certification; additional certifications such as CNOR, PALS, ACLS, and NIHSS preferred.
  • Ability to perform a variety of specialized surgical skills including credentialed scrub roles across multiple specialties.
  • Experience with surgical equipment, sterile techniques, and patient monitoring.
  • Flexibility to work scheduled night shifts, weekends, and be on-call as required.
  • Must have valid licensing and credentialing clearance within Missouri or Kansas.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience in gynecology, plastics, trauma, orthopedics, urology, general, endoscopic, pediatric, ENT, bariatric, or robotic surgeries.
  • Skilled in operating advanced surgical equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic sources, and Steris systems.
  • Familiarity with Epic charting systems and inpatient hospital environments.

Additional Details

  • This role involves floating within the scope of surgical departments, including potential work across Kansas and Missouri facilities.
  • Must be able to travel within a 75-mile radius; local candidates outside this radius are not accepted.
  • Full compliance with credentialing, drug screening, and training modules required prior to start.
  • Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts every 13 weeks with scheduled working hours from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM.

Note: Candidates must provide two references from the past year, with at least one supervisor-level reference. All certifications, licensing, and compliance modules must be completed before orientation.
