• Full-time, night shifts, 12-hour shifts

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to high-risk psychiatric patients in the Emergency Department, including medication administration, restraints, de-escalation, and facilitating inpatient or inpatient hospital placement.
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations for all ER patients, determine appropriate dispositions, and coordinate safety planning, placement, and transport.
• Respond to Behavioral Response Team (BRT) calls to manage escalated patient situations, supporting staff with de-escalation, restraint, and collaboration with police and nurse managers.
• Support ED physicians with psychiatric assessments and disposition plans post-medical clearance in an independent role.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas or a Compact state
• BLS certification
• Minimum of 1 year of ER experience and 1 year of psychiatric experience (hospital setting preferred)
• Experience with patient assessments, violence management, and crisis intervention

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working with violent or high-risk psychiatric patients in an emergency setting
• Strong psych nursing skills with the ability to work independently under pressure
• Experience with patient disposition planning and crisis response
