Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in an outpatient oncology setting, including administering chemotherapy and IV therapies.
• Perform triage via phone and patient portal messages to assess patient needs and document symptoms.
• Draw blood through venipuncture or port access, ensuring proper handling and care of ports.
• Chaperone examinations, including breast exams, to support diagnosing and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to coordinate patient care and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values, manage oncologic emergencies, and monitor patient responses to treatments.

Required Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina State Nursing License, or pending license verification.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in outpatient or oncology settings.
• Proficiency in IV therapy, port management, and phlebotomy.
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
• BLS certification.
• Ability to recognize abnormal lab values and communicate effectively with patients and providers.
• Must bring your own stethoscope.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients with various cancer types, including hematologic and solid tumors.
• Knowledge of oncology biotherapy, side effect management, and oncology emergencies such as extravasation injuries.
• Skills in care coordination, isolation precautions, and neutropenic management.
• Experience in triage, symptom management, and patient education.

Additional Details

• 16 patient exam rooms and 20 infusion bays.
• 8-hour daytime shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no call, float, or weekend requirements.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• All testing must be completed within 48 hours of signing and entry into the lab.
• Candidate must be comfortable floating within hospital units as needed.
• Travel and RTO policies apply; candidate must be available for major holidays and adhere to fatigue policies.
