Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in an Acute Progressive Care Unit with a focus on complex cardiac and medical diagnoses.
• Float to various units as needed, supporting the resource float team.
• Administer insulin drips, cardiac drips, and perform IV starts and post-cardiac cath care.
• Monitor patients with acute conditions such as ACS, post-PTCA/stent, heart failure, and other cardiac/hemodynamic instabilities.
• Utilize EPIC electronic health record system for documentation and MAK for medication management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Valid New York State Nursing License or proof of application with applied date.
• BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required prior to start.
• Minimum of 1 year of telemetry or acute care nursing experience.
• Experience with insulin and cardiac drips, IV starts, and post-cardiac cath patient care.
• Epic electronic health record experience within the past 2 years.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience working in a teaching hospital setting.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring, invasive procedures, and complex cardiac patients.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Additional Information

• This position requires reliable transportation; public transit is not available.
• Work schedule includes holiday coverage and occasional weekend shifts (every other weekend).
• First orientation is scheduled bi-weekly; next session begins 2/23.
• All employment gaps over 90 days must be thoroughly explained during onboarding.
• Must complete all work history details, including bed count, EMR, and facility type, to be eligible for submission.
• Nurses will float first to appropriate units within the facility, participating as part of the resource float team.
• Contact supports include respiratory and anesthesia teams available 24/7.
• Dress code: navy blue or white scrubs, closed-toe non-skid shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed appearance.
• Use EPIC for documentation; medication administration via MAK.
