School Paraprofessional

Primary Purpose: The School Paraprofessional provides direct support to students and teachers in the classroom to enhance student learning and development. The paraprofessional assists with instructional activities, classroom management, and individualized support for students, particularly those with special needs. The role is essential for ensuring an inclusive, productive, and supportive classroom environment.

Position Details:

• Location: Atlanta, GA
• Pay: Starting at $22/hr
• Schedule: M-F 7:15a-3:45p

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years of experience as a Certified Paraprofessional through GaPSC.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Experience working with children in educational settings, especially with small groups or individual students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Patience, flexibility, and a strong commitment to student support.

• Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• Familiarity with assessment administration and progress tracking.
• Prior experience in a middle school environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist lead teachers in delivering instructional activities, reinforcing lessons, and providing one-on-one or small group tutoring to students.
• Support classroom management by helping maintain an orderly and engaging learning environment.
• Provide targeted support to a small caseload of students, adapting instructional methods to meet individual needs.
• Assist with administering assessments and tracking student progress to inform instructional planning.
• Maintain open communication with teachers, students, and families regarding academic and behavioral expectations.
• Help prepare instructional materials and set up technology or equipment for lessons.
• Collaborate with staff and other paraprofessionals to support school-wide educational goals.
• Participate in professional development to improve instructional skills and stay current with best practices.
