Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Labor and Delivery unit, utilizing the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Administer medications and treatments following appropriate protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Educate patients and their families regarding procedures, care plans, and post-discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety during labor and postpartum care.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medication administration, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
• Demonstrate independence and clinical judgment in a dynamic perinatal setting, managing contingencies effectively.

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license in Texas or a compact state.
• BLS certification through AHA.
• At least 1 year of experience in a perinatal or labor and delivery setting preferred.
• Completion of all organizational competency requirements, including new nurse orientation.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Perinatal RN residency or recent experience in labor and delivery.
• Certifications in Fetal Heart Monitoring (C-EFM), NRP, ACLS, and STABLE are required or preferred.
• Strong assessment skills and ability to handle complex clinical situations independently.
