Travel RN – CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room)

Contract – Travel | 13-Week Assignment | Days | Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM with on-call requirements (stay late 1–2 times per week) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide preoperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients in a 4-bed CV PreOp unit at a 1:1 patient ratio
- Perform large-bore IV starts, chin-to-toe hair removal, medication administration, and skin assessment
- Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transport patients to the OR and assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep
- Utilize GE Carescape monitoring equipment and Fuji ultrasound; document accurately in Cerner EMR
- Collaborate effectively with an interdepartmental team including RNs, CNC, secretary, and management shared with the CVOR
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure with eligibility to practice in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiovascular surgery or critical care nursing
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Proficiency with BCMA and electronic documentation systems (Cerner preferred)
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
- Excellent communication skills for interdepartmental collaboration
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior PreOp experience in a cardiovascular or surgical setting
- Familiarity with GE Carescape monitoring systems and Fuji ultrasound equipment
- Experience floating within scope of practice across related units
