Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (General Surgery)

Contract (13 Weeks) | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite | 36–48 Hours per Week | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays as Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide postoperative care for patients on a 32-bed general surgical unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage pain, support patient mobility, and perform bedside procedures as part of comprehensive postoperative care
• Foster a comfortable and healing environment tailored to each patient's individual needs
• Collaborate closely with hospitalists, family practice physicians, and surgeons to coordinate patient care
• Float to other units or facilities as needed
• Document and manage patient information using Meditech EMR

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher
• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Alabama or valid compact license (temporary licenses not accepted); must be verifiable through NURSYS
• Active AHA BLS or Red Cross BLS certification
• Minimum of 18 months of experience working under the highest level of professional licensure; 2 years preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry specialty

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 2 or more years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience in a clinical setting
• Prior experience with Meditech EMR
• Experience in a general surgical or postoperative care environment
