Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Surgical Cardiac Telemetry unit for patients including myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
- Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Manage groin and radial band post-procedural care; assist with epicardial pacer management and cardioversion/defibrillation
- Administer blood and blood products; provide chest tube setup and care, CPAP/BiPAP support, trach care, and breathing treatments
- Support specialized structural heart patients including LVAD and open-heart surgery patients within 24–28 hours post-op
- Float to like units as required; work every other weekend
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; active compact license accepted
- Minimum 2 years of experience with at least 2–3 years of telemetry experience required
- Surgical telemetry experience including open-heart surgery and vascular surgery required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Strong IV skills required
- Must not be a first-time traveler; prior travel nursing experience required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) and/or TAVR patients
- Familiarity with structural heart support programs
