Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab / EP

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days – 5x8 Hours (6:45–15:15), Monday–Friday | Occasional late days approximately 4–5 times per month; call requirement includes one day per week and every fifth weekend

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization lab setting at a 1:1 patient ratio
  • Assist with and circulate during procedures including cardiac stent placement, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), left and right heart catheterizations, IABP placement and removal, and PFO/ASD closures
  • Administer and monitor procedural sedation; manage medications including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, and reversal agents
  • Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs, monitor for dysrhythmias, manage sheath removal and post-procedure monitoring, and perform activated clotting time (ACT) assessments
  • Operate specialized equipment including Impella, Penumbra, EKOS, Roto, Shockwave, Ultrasound, ACIST, and GE Mac Lab system
  • Document using Epic, administer medications via Pyxis, and communicate using SBAR methodology; float within or near the facility as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab setting
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Proficiency in procedural sedation administration and monitoring, IV therapy including blood product administration and starting IVs, and use of IV infusion pumps
  • Working knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions, malignant hyperthermia protocols, and Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale
  • Experience with cardioversion and Pulmonary Artery Line / Swan-Ganz monitoring

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with advanced procedures such as TAVI/TAVR, Impella insertion, rotablader atherectomy, ASD/cardiac implant closure devices, and scrub procedures
  • Vascular procedure experience including angioplasty, upper and lower extremity angiography, and dialysis graft interventional procedures
  • Familiarity with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose), topical hemostasis agents, external compression devices, and radiation and laser safety protocols
  • Experience with PICC line and implanted port care, central line assistance, end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and ventilator monitoring
