Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular-focused ICU setting, including pre and post cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, and cardiac intervention patients
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure utilizing advanced cardiac monitoring techniques including Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Operate and manage advanced cardiac support devices including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and assist with CABG and valve replacement/repair patient care
• Perform and manage IV therapy including arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, port access, and blood product administration
• Manage continuous renal replacement therapy (CVVHD/CRRT) and thermoregulation interventions as indicated
• Float to sister ICU units as needed to support staffing across the health system

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
• Current CPR, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
• Demonstrated competency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IABP, Impella, LVAD/RVAD, Swan Ganz monitoring, CVVHD/CRRT, and comprehensive IV therapy
• Must submit a passing EKG test score of 80% or higher at time of submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing ECMO and caring for LVAD patients
• Charge nurse experience in an ICU setting
• Familiarity with cardiovascular-focused acute care environments
