Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular-focused ICU setting, managing complex multi-system conditions including post-cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, and valve replacement/repair patients
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring including Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Operate and manage advanced cardiac assist devices including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Impella, LVAD/RVAD, and CVVHD/CRRT
• Administer and titrate continuous IV medications including vasoactive drips, cardiac drips, sedation, and neuromuscular blockade agents
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT/NT), BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• May float to other ICU units within the health system as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) experience
• Active Illinois RN License
• Current CPR, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
• Demonstrated competency in IV therapy including arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, port access, and blood product administration
• Must submit a passing EKG test score of 80% or higher at time of submission

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with advanced cardiac devices including ECMO and management of LVAD patients
• Charge nurse experience (please note on submission if applicable)
