Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Contract | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 36 or 48 hours per week | 16–20 week assignment | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms and manage dysrhythmias, including remote telemetry monitoring
• Manage a diverse patient population with diagnoses including diabetes, CHF, sepsis, renal failure, COPD, GI bleed, pneumonia, and various post-surgical recovery cases
• Perform and manage IV therapy, central and PICC line care, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and wound care including wound vac
• Utilize Pyxis medication dispensing system and administer medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Float to other units within or near the facility as needed, including to a main campus location; participate in storm, hurricane, and disaster response teams as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg and/or Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Active RN license in NC or a Compact state
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, chest tubes, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start; ability to work every other weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification; experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, or post-MI care
• Experience with tracheostomy care, ABG interpretation, continuous bladder irrigation, port access/management, and surgical drains
• Background in bariatric surgery, CVA care, substance withdrawal, or pre/post thoracic surgery
• Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital background, and proficiency with electronic documentation
