Key Responsibilities
- Provide intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum care for obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater, as well as high-risk patients under 16 weeks
- Manage double labor assignments in a high-volume, fast-paced birthing unit averaging approximately 20 births and 30–40 admissions per 24-hour period
- Perform sterile vaginal exams and provide immediate newborn care
- Circulate for scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage procedures
- Conduct obstetrical triage, antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration for outpatient procedures
- Float as needed to a high-risk special maternity care unit; work every other weekend with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience; 3 years strongly preferred
- Prior experience in a high-volume setting with greater than 300 births per month
- Current BLS (BCLS) certification
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience circulating in an OR setting for obstetrical procedures
- Proficiency with EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR documentation systems
- Background in high-risk antepartum or maternal-fetal medicine environments
