Contract | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Onsite | Night Shift (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | Block Scheduling | 36–48 Hours Per Week (Alternating Weeks) | Every Other Weekend and Holiday Rotation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to an elder population in a long-term care and skilled nursing facility setting overnight
- Monitor and manage patients with dementia and behavioral health diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia as part of an active behavioral program
- Work alongside a medication aide from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, then independently as the sole nurse on the floor from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- Utilize the PCC electronic medical records system for documentation and charting
- Complete skilled nursing charting and other required documentation as assigned during the overnight shift
- Participate in facility orientation including training, competency assessments, and 1–2 shadow shifts
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in South Dakota
- Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts on a block schedule
- Comfortable working independently as the sole nurse on the floor during overnight hours
- Experience working with geriatric or long-term care patient populations
- Proficiency or ability to quickly learn PCC electronic medical records system
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in geriatric psychiatry (geri psych) or LTC psychiatric settings strongly preferred
- Familiarity with behavioral health diagnoses such as dementia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia in an elder care environment
- Experience with skilled nursing documentation and charting requirements
