Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Urology/Nephrology)

Contract | Days (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | Onsite | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical Urology/Nephrology unit with an average daily census of 23 on a 25-bed unit
• Manage pre- and post-hemodialysis patients and those presenting with renal failure
• Perform IV therapy skills including blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, and starting IVs
• Monitor patients via remote telemetry and participate in Rapid Response Team activations as needed
• Manage respiratory support modalities including CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, chest tubes, and oral suctioning
• Implement isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac management, and administer heparin as ordered; float to other Medical Surgical units as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in hand at time of application (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted)
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records
• Experience with telemetry/remote monitoring and emergency response protocols
• Demonstrated competency in genitourinary/renal care, IV therapy, and respiratory management skills listed above

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience with a solid foundation in Medical Surgical or Med/Tele nursing
• Familiarity with Magnet facility standards and Level I Trauma Center environments
• Experience floating across multiple Medical Surgical units
