Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, 5x8-Hour Days)
Key Responsibilities
- Complete MDS assessments, baseline care plans, and Care Area Assessments (CAAs); submit, validate, and oversee the certification and recertification process
- Lead and participate in care plan meetings; develop and present care plans to residents
- Accurately assign ICD-10 diagnosis codes for new admissions and ensure proper completion and validation of UB-04 claims
- Conduct triple check and utilization review processes to support compliant billing practices
- Perform admission referral reviews and assist with insurance preauthorization for new admissions as needed
- Provide education to floor staff regarding MDS updates and related nursing duties
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Minimum of 3 years of RN experience, with current MDS experience within the last 3 years (hands-on assessment completion, not a management role)
- Active North Carolina RN license or compact license
- Current BLS certification
- Demonstrated experience in a Long-Term Acute Care or Skilled Nursing Facility setting
- Proficiency in clinical processes including care coordination, discharge planning, prior authorizations, appeals and denials, clinical documentation improvement, and CMS/ICD-10/MDS regulatory requirements
Preferred Experience / Skills
- RAC-CT and/or ICD-10 certification
- Familiarity with DRG, HIPAA, NCQA, OBRA, and RAPS regulatory frameworks
- Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience
- Experience educating and providing resources to floor nursing staff
