Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed Medical ICU with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, and overdose
• Interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry using Philips monitoring systems; nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting their own strips
• Manage and titrate a wide variety of vasoactive and cardioactive drips per physician-outlined parameters
• Provide advanced care for ventilated patients, including troubleshooting RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Utilize arterial lines and central lines proficiently as part of routine critical care practice
• Float to lower levels of care as needed (stepdown: 3 patients; general med: 4 patients), with travelers floating first

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Must pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Proficiency in care of ventilated patients and advanced knowledge of vasopressor titration
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior MICU or critical care nursing experience with exposure to high-acuity diagnoses such as sepsis and ARDS
• Experience interpreting EKG strips and managing telemetry in an ICU environment
• Familiarity with Epic EMR
