Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care through the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all patient age groups from birth to elderly
- Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients in accordance with established nursing practice standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective care and achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients, families, and significant others
- Operate and utilize medical equipment appropriate to the position, including EKG and cystoscopy equipment
- Supervise unit secretaries and patient care technicians in collaboration with the Charge Nurse
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a nursing education program from an NLN-approved institution
- Current licensure in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficient oral and written communication skills with the ability to document care delivery accurately
- Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to apply the nursing process in patient care settings
- Ability to interpret diagnostic data, follow clinical guidelines and procedures, and manage care across the continuum
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a healthcare setting
- Basic EKG interpretation skills
- Experience working with culturally diverse patient populations and applying age-specific care considerations
