Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through the full nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all patient age groups from birth to elderly
• Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients in accordance with established nursing practice standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective care and achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients, families, and significant others
• Operate and utilize medical equipment appropriate to the position, including EKG and cystoscopy equipment
• Supervise unit secretaries and patient care technicians in collaboration with the Charge Nurse

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a nursing education program from an NLN-approved institution
• Current licensure in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Alaska
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficient oral and written communication skills with the ability to document care delivery accurately
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to apply the nursing process in patient care settings
• Ability to interpret diagnostic data, follow clinical guidelines and procedures, and manage care across the continuum

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a healthcare setting
• Basic EKG interpretation skills
• Experience working with culturally diverse patient populations and applying age-specific care considerations
