Operating Room Technician – OR Tech – First Assist

Contract | Days | 10-Hour Shifts | 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM | On-Call Required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct first-assist support to surgeons during surgical procedures, including cardiovascular cases
• Perform independent endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) as required
• Position and prep patients prior to surgery, ensuring proper visibility for the surgical team using retractors, sponges, and related instruments
• Control bleeding and close surgical sites using sutures or staples, and apply appropriate wound dressings
• Cover the surgical technologist role as needed throughout the week
• Collaborate with surgeons and the broader surgical team to support proper post-operative patient care

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of cardiovascular (CV) surgical experience — non-negotiable
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform vein harvesting
• EVH certification through NSAA or ABSA required
• BLS certification required
• CFSA through CAAHEP, CST through ABHES, or NBSTSA certification required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience functioning in a dual capacity as both a First Assist and Surgical Technologist
• Familiarity with weekday, weekend, and holiday on-call coverage expectations in a high-acuity surgical environment
