Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct medical-surgical nursing care to patients on a 20-bed Transplant Nephrology unit with a 1:6 patient ratio
- Collaborate with unit secretaries, patient care technicians, and a unit educator to deliver safe, patient-centered care
- Coordinate and support care for patients with renal and kidney transplant needs, with dialysis performed off the unit
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using the Meditech electronic documentation system
- Participate in weekend staffing rotation (3 weekend shifts per month) and adhere to unit float policies as applicable to contract staff
- Partner with virtual nursing support, which handles patient admissions remotely, allowing bedside nurses to focus on direct patient care
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with a minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience in a Medical-Surgical setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with med/surg nursing care principles and practices
- Willingness to float per contract staff floating policy
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in nephrology, renal care, or kidney transplant nursing
- Familiarity with dialysis patient care coordination
- Prior experience with Meditech documentation system
