Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity Surgical Oncology unit serving both PCU and Med/Surg patients, with a staffing ratio goal of 1:4 (up to 1:5)
- Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary cancers, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive plastics
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips
- Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies, including cytokine release syndrome
- Maintain a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
- Float within scope of practice to other units as needed; shift assignments (days, nights, or rotating) are determined based on departmental needs each 4-week scheduling period
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license) required at time of submission
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU experience
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
- Locals are accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
- Prior experience in a surgical oncology or high-acuity PCU setting
- Familiarity with oncologic emergency management, including cytokine release syndrome
