Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a mixed-acuity Surgical Oncology unit serving both PCU and Med/Surg patients, with a staffing ratio goal of 1:4 (up to 1:5)
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary cancers, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive plastics
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, and heparin drips
• Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies, including cytokine release syndrome
• Maintain a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Float within scope of practice to other units as needed; shift assignments (days, nights, or rotating) are determined based on departmental needs each 4-week scheduling period

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license) required at time of submission
• Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year of PCU experience
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
• Locals are accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Prior experience in a surgical oncology or high-acuity PCU setting
• Familiarity with oncologic emergency management, including cytokine release syndrome
