Contract | 12-Hour Night Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 or 48 hours per week available | Every other weekend required | 13-week assignment (minimum)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity IMC/PCU/Stepdown environment that runs similarly to an ICU, managing a patient ratio of 1:3–4
- Monitor, interpret, and manage cardiac dysrhythmias using bedside and remote telemetry systems; must be able to recognize and treat dysrhythmias independently
- Titrate and manage vasoactive drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Precedex, Cardene, Levophed, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Neo; limited to one pressor drip per patient
- Care for patients with diagnoses including respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, GI bleeds, post-operative recovery (GYN, GU, GI, thoracotomies, neuro, ortho), neurological events, withdrawal, and pre/post OB complications
- Manage specialized equipment and procedures including arterial lines, BIPAP, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), tracheostomies, HFNC, PICC lines, and central lines; no ventilators on unit
- Float as needed to a sister ICCU unit; document using Epic and retrieve medications via Pyxis
Required Qualifications
- Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown or comparable high-acuity setting
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Demonstrated experience with arterial lines, titrating vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, blood product administration, and isolation precautions
- Local candidates are welcome; please note that a local rate applies for candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with rapid response team protocols and post-rapid-response patient management
- Familiarity with conscious sedation and IV insertion
- Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers are accepted)
- Comfort managing a diverse patient population ranging from adolescent to geriatric
