Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (IMCU Float Pool)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Up to 2 weekends per month required | Holidays required | Float pool position with floating to MedSurg based on patient volume

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU), functioning as a step-down/progressive care unit with telemetry monitoring
• Manage common IV drips including Heparin (per established protocol), Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone within established parameters
• Float to MedSurg units based on patient census and volume needs
• Care for a patient ratio of 5:1 (goal 4:1) on a 24-bed unit with an average census of 20–24 patients
• Provide care for occasional pediatric patients as needed
• Document and manage patient care using EPIC EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active North Carolina RN license or valid compact RN license (must be at least pending with a clearly stated ETA)
• Minimum 2 years of IMCU/telemetry nursing experience
• 2+ years of travel nursing experience required
• Recent proficiency with EPIC EMR required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (must be AHA-issued), and NIHSS certifications required — all must remain current and not expire during the contract
• Must reside at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible (driver's license required for address verification prior to offer)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Comfort and experience caring for pediatric patients in an acute care setting
• Familiarity with Heparin titration protocols and management of vasoactive/cardiac drips
• Experience floating across units within a hospital system
