Licensed Vocational Nurse

Primary Purpose: The LVN will work closely with school leadership, families, healthcare providers, and school staff to address student health needs, administer medications, maintain accurate health records, respond to injuries and illnesses, and support students with ongoing medical conditions.The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for students.

Position Details:

  • Location: Atlanta, GA 
  • Pay: Starting at $34/hr
  • Schedule: Thurs & Fri 10a-2p

Qualifications:

  • Associate of Science in Nursing or beyond
  • Valid Georgia LVN License
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience in a school, pediatric, clinical, public-health, or community-health setting.
  • Previous 2-3yrs school-nursing or pediatric experience.
  • Comfortable with K-6 aged students

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience supporting students with chronic medical conditions, disabilities, or complex healthcare needs.
  • Experience developing or following Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and emergency care plans.
  • Familiarity with school health regulations and student privacy requirements.
  • Experience communicating with parents, healthcare providers, teachers, and administrators.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient approach when working with children.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple student health needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic nursing care and health services to students during the school day.
  • Assess and respond appropriately to student illnesses, injuries, and medical concerns.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, school policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Develop and implement appropriate care plans for students with chronic or complex health conditions.
  • Monitor students with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, allergies, seizures, and other medical needs.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns and medical needs.
  • Collaborate with parents, healthcare providers, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Monitor immunization and other required student health documentation.
  • Support health screenings and other school-wide health initiatives.
  • Maintain appropriate medical supplies and ensure emergency equipment is available and properly maintained.
  • Follow infection-control, safety, and health procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and activate emergency services when necessary.
  • Provide health education and guidance to students and staff as appropriate.
