Contract | Rotating Shifts (nights and mid-shifts) | Monday–Sunday, No Block Schedules | 16–26 Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 10–14 bed Emergency Department serving a newborn-to-geriatric population (ages 0–100+) at a Critical Access Hospital
- Perform ESI triage, IV insertion, drip/infusion management, EKGs, restraint application, procedural sedation, and ambulance transports as needed
- Operate specialty equipment including Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and Ranger blood warmer; utilize Pyxis medication system and Epic EMR
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including ED techs, charge nurses, MDs, and mid-level providers (PA/NP); utilize Telemedicine and Telestroke consultation services
- Maintain flexibility with scheduling including holiday coverage and rotating weekend shifts (generally every other weekend)
- Support patient transports to higher levels of care for STEMI, Stroke, and Trauma cases as required
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, ENPC, NRP required
- TNCC required (or proof of enrolled class with applied date must be included in submission packet)
- NIHSS certification required prior to start date
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an Emergency Department setting
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle required — public transportation is not accessible in this area
- All employment gaps exceeding 90 days must be explained; complete work history (bed count, EMR, facility type) required for submission
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) or rural Emergency Department
- Comfort with precepting new nurses if needed
- Prior ambulance transport experience
