Contract | 26-Week Assignment | Night Shift | Onsite | Shifts available: 7a–7p, 11a–11p, 3p–3a, 7p–7a | Monday–Sunday (no block schedules)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a 10–14 bed Emergency Department serving a newborn-to-geriatric population (ages 0–100+) at a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital
- Perform ESI triage, IV insertion, drip/infusion management, EKGs, restraint application, procedural sedation, and ambulance transports as needed
- Utilize Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, Ranger blood warmers, and Epic EMR for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
- Serve in a charge nurse capacity as assigned; charge nurse coverage is maintained 24/7 on the unit
- Collaborate with on-site MD, mid-level providers (PA/NP), ED techs, and ancillary staff; coordinate Telemedicine and Telestroke consultations as applicable
- Meet holiday scheduling requirements — must work 2 of the following 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's Day
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with a minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department clinical experience
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment required
- AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC all required (TNCC or proof of scheduled class must be provided; NIHSS must be completed prior to start)
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- Charge nurse experience required
- Must have reliable personal or rental transportation — public transportation is not accessible in this area; all-season or snow tires strongly recommended November through April
- Must live at least 51 miles from the facility to be eligible as a traveler (radius and local tiers also available based on mileage)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) or rural Emergency Department setting
- Comfort with or prior experience precepting new nursing staff
- Ambulance transport experience
- Familiarity with STEMI, Stroke, and Trauma protocols and inter-facility transport coordination
