Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every Other Weekend Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory therapy services to an adult and geriatric patient population in an acute care setting, including Adult Critical Care
- Perform airway management procedures including extubation, nasal and oral airway placement, suctioning, tracheostomy care, and pulmonary hygiene
- Administer a broad range of inhaled medications via aerosol mask, trach setup, metered dose inhaler, and nebulizer devices including handheld, T-piece, and trach collar
- Manage and troubleshoot ventilatory support equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, trach collar oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation weaning
- Collect sputum specimens and perform related diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures
- Float to other qualified units or campuses as needed based on census and documented competencies
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in South Carolina — must be in hand at time of submission; pending licenses not accepted
- Active ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Trauma Level 1 experience required
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (night shift RRT classification); candidates between 50–99.9 miles may be subject to a bill rate reduction
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Proficiency with a wide range of inhaled medications including albuterol, racemic epinephrine, pulmicort, xopenex, tobramycin, and related agents
- Experience with tracheostomy care, pulmonary hygiene protocols, and sputum specimen collection in a high-acuity environment
- Familiarity with troubleshooting high-pressure ventilator alarms and managing complex weaning protocols
- Prior travel therapy experience welcomed; first-time travelers accepted
